Compete for the Buy Box with Hunt & Hold

Hunt & Hold helps you compete for the Buy Box. There are two settings, one for when Amazon holds the Buy Box and one for when no Buy Box is showing. Both are off until you turn them on, and both work on a rule.

Before you turn it on

Check your minimum first. Your minimum is your limit. Set one you're happy to sell at. See set a minimum ROI, margin or profit.

When Amazon holds the Buy Box

  1. Open the rule and go to the Match Offer tab.
  2. Find Amazon Buy Box. Switch on If Amazon holds the Buy Box, hunt it down and hold it.
  3. Check Exclude Sellers. If an Exclude Amazon switch is on, Hunt & Hold won't do anything. STK warns you about this on the rule. Switch the exclude off for this rule.
  4. Update the rule.

Also hunt other sellers

With Hunt & Hold on, a second switch appears: Also hunt these sellers. List their seller IDs, separated by a space, a comma or a new line. Hunt & Hold also applies when one of these sellers holds the Buy Box. A seller on your Exclude Sellers list isn't hunted.

When no Buy Box is showing

Sometimes Amazon shows no Buy Box on a listing, called a suppressed Buy Box.

  1. Open the rule and go to the Suppressed BuyBox tab.
  2. Choose Hunt & Hold. The Match Lowest options are there if you'd rather follow a particular offer, and each says what happens if that offer doesn't exist.
  3. Update the rule.

The Suppressed Buy Box filter on Repricer Filters lists the listings this applies to.

If you're the only seller

Set a maximum on these listings, because it's the limit you control. See set a maximum price.

What to expect

  • Your minimum and maximum always apply.
  • Give it time before you judge the result.
  • You can't always win. If the Buy Box needs a price below your minimum, your price stops at your minimum.
  • Used and collectible offers don't normally appear in the main Buy Box.

What to check if you're not winning

  • Is the SKU on the rule you changed, on that marketplace?
  • Is your price showing At Min Price in All Markets? If so, your minimum is the limit, and you can review it or the SKU's costs.
  • Is your stock live and available to buy? Amazon doesn't normally give the Buy Box to an offer that can't ship now.
