Find unprofitable products

Use the Inventory filters to find products selling at a loss. Three filters show you which products lose money, and which have figures you can't trust yet.

The three filters

  • Losers: products making a loss at their current price.
  • No CoG: products in stock with no cost of goods entered.
  • No Fees: products in stock where fees aren't available yet, so profit can't be shown. You don't need to do anything.

You'll find them with the other Inventory filters. A filter only appears when it has something in it.

Fix your No CoG products first

Start here, because it changes the picture. Profit at the current price can't be shown without a cost, and any sales of these products look more profitable than they really are. Open add your cost of goods and fill them in. Some of them may turn out to be Losers.

Work through your Losers

  1. Click Losers. Set the sort to Profit Low to High so your biggest losses come first. Use All, FBA or FBM to narrow the list.
  2. Check the cost. A wrong cost can make a good product look like a loser. If it's out of date, update it.
  3. Try another price. Use the What If calculator to see what a different price would do to your profit.
  4. Decide what to do. Change the price, buy for less next time, or stop selling the product.

Stop it happening again

If you use the Repricer, a minimum ROI or margin helps keep your prices above the level you're happy with. See how to set a minimum ROI or margin.
