Add your cost of goods

Cost of goods is what you paid for the units you sell. Every profit figure in STK depends on it, so it's the first thing to set up.

Not sure which products still need a cost? See check for missing cost of goods.

Choose how to enter costs

  • In the app: best for a few products or a quick change.
  • By spreadsheet: best for your first setup, or for updating many products at once.

Enter a cost in the app

  1. Open Cost of Goods. Find the product you want to change.
  2. Click Edit Costs. It's on the product's Link Menu.
  3. Enter your costs and save.

Enter costs by spreadsheet

  1. Download the sheet. On the Reports page, choose one of the Cost of Goods reports (see below).
  2. Open it in Excel or Google Sheets. It's a .tsv file. In Excel, use Data → From Text/CSV and set the delimiter to Tab. This stops Excel changing values such as SKUs that begin with a zero. In Google Sheets, use File → Import.
  3. Fill in the costs that apply. Leave the rest blank.
  4. Upload it. Open Cost of Goods, choose Upload CoG, drag the file onto the upload box and click Upload.

Which sheet to download

  • Cost of Goods - Aggregate By SKU or Aggregate By ASIN: one row per item, listing only the items that still need a cost. The quick option for a first setup.
  • Cost of Goods V4 Detailed: usually one row per SKU and shipment, so each shipment can carry its own cost. More work, but the one to use if your costs change between shipments.

V4 Detailed comes in two versions. Full List has all your costs. Update List has only costs not set yet, plus new shipments that may need an updated cost.

What goes in each column

  • UNIT_COST: what you pay for one unit.
  • PREP_COST: per-unit prep, such as labelling, bagging, bundling or packaging.
  • DELIVERY_TO_WAREHOUSE_COST: per-unit freight to you or your prep centre. It doesn't cover sending stock on to an Amazon fulfilment centre.
  • FBM_SHIPPING_COST: your estimated per-unit cost to ship an FBM order. On the Detailed sheet, you only see this if you have FBM SKUs.
  • ISO_CURRENCY_CODE: your three-letter currency code for that row's costs. This one is required.

VAT-registered sellers see a VAT_INCLUSIVE and a NET_OF_VAT column for each cost. Fill in only one.

If your sheet is rejected

One bad row rejects the whole sheet, so nothing loads until it's fixed. Check the sheet still matches the layout you downloaded. The usual causes are:

  • column headers were changed
  • both VAT_INCLUSIVE and NET_OF_VAT were entered for the same cost
  • numbers or dates are in the wrong format (dates are DD/MM/YYYY)
  • on Detailed sheets, the UNIQUE_NUMBER column was changed or deleted

You can't upload a new sheet while the last one is still loading.
