Set up your VAT settings
Your VAT settings tell STK which VAT scheme you're on and when it applied, so your sales, fees and profit are shown on the right basis. It's worth doing this early, and if you're unsure about any date, check with your accountant.
Find your VAT settings
Open Settings and choose VAT. You only see this section if your marketplace uses VAT.
If you're not VAT-registered
Leave every date blank. That includes Registration Date, Amazon VAT Calculations Date and Date VAT On Fees Stopped. You don't need to change anything else.
If you're VAT-registered
- Click Add New VAT Setting. Add one row for each VAT scheme you've been on.
- Choose your VAT Scheme. Pick Standard or Flat. If you pick Flat, enter your flat rate in the VAT Rate(FRS) box.
- Enter your Registration Date. This is the date on your VAT certificate.
- Enter your Amazon VAT Calculations Date. In Seller Central, open your VAT Calculation Settings and use the Activation Date.
- Add de-registration dates only if they apply. Leave De-Registration Date and Amazon VAT Calculations De-Registration Date blank if you're still registered.
- Click Update VAT Settings. Nothing is saved until you do.
Standard scheme or Flat Rate
Standard
Set the VAT code on each product's cost of goods to that item's VAT rate. See update your cost of goods for how to change it.
Flat Rate
- The VAT code on your cost of goods isn't relevant, so leave it as it is.
- If your flat rate changes, add a new row with its own start date and leave the old row unchanged.
- If you're on the Flat Rate Scheme, ask your accountant whether Amazon's VAT Calculation service suits you.
Date VAT On Fees Stopped
Most sellers leave this blank. If you were charged VAT on your fees before you were VAT-registered, check with your accountant what date to enter. If you were VAT-registered with Amazon from the start, leave it blank. This box is only for that early period. For anything later, use VAT on your Amazon fees below.
VAT on your Amazon fees
This section is optional. Use it if Amazon stopped charging VAT on your fees, or if it charged VAT you can't reclaim. If neither applies, add nothing.
- Click Add VAT On Fees Period. Add one row for each period.
- Say what happened. Choose Amazon charged no VAT if there was no VAT on your fees. Choose Charged, can't reclaim (except FBA fee) if Amazon charged VAT and the only part you can reclaim is on the FBA fulfilment fee.
- Enter From and Until. From is the first date that applied. Until is the first date it no longer did. Leave Until blank while the period is still running.
- Click Update VAT Settings. Your orders in that period are updated for you.
Periods can't overlap. If you're not sure of a date, your Amazon fee invoices will show when VAT started or stopped appearing.
