Record expenses and credits
Expenses & Credits is where you record the costs of running your Amazon business that Amazon doesn't bill you for. That might be your accountant, a virtual assistant, a prep service, software subscriptions or office rent.
Amazon's own charges are already on Finance Activity, so you don't need to add those here.
Add an expense
- Open Expenses & Credits and choose List.
- Click Add Expense. A new row opens at the top of the list.
- Fill in the row. Enter a description, category, currency, amount and start date.
- Set Credit/Debit. Leave it on Debit for a cost. Choose Credit or Refund for money coming back to you.
- Set Recurs. Leave it on Does Not Recur for a one-off, or pick how often it repeats.
- Click the Save icon at the end of the row.
Recurs can be Weekly, Two Weekly, Four Weekly, Monthly, Two Monthly, Quarterly, Bi-Annually or Annually. A recurring expense appears on the Statement once for each time it repeats. Use the end date to stop it.
If you're VAT-registered
You also choose a Vat Code. Auto uses your usual rate, or you can pick a rate, 0% or Exempt. Choose Amount to type the exact VAT yourself.
Manage your list
- Edit: click the edit icon and change the row in place.
- Copy: makes a new expense from an existing one, which saves typing for similar costs.
- Delete: removes the expense and asks you to confirm first.
- Manage Categories: add, rename or delete your categories.
- Search: find an expense by typing in the search box.
Use the Statement
Statement is a read-only running record. It has Date, Description, Credit, Debit and Balance columns, in your own currency. If you're VAT-registered, lines are marked VAT Credit or VAT Debit. Pick a period with the period picker. It's a good page to share with your accountant.
For a file, request the Expenses report on Reports.
Where expenses show up
The Profit chart on your dashboard lists them as Indirect expenses under Net profit, then shows Net profit after expenses. They cover your whole account, so you see them with All marketplaces selected and not for a single product.
